Jesus once said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). This statement, which is probably the most well-known passage in the whole Bible, contains the good news that our souls need. Yes, the good news that your soul needs. Jesus is telling you that God loves you. God loves you, even though you are a sinner. God loves you, even if you have a troubled past. God loves you, even if you are struggling with an addiction right now. God loves you, even if you are experiencing hurt or pain. Yes, God loves you.
In fact, he loves you so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus, to die for you. With his death on the cross, Jesus won forgiveness for all of your sins. And, there’s more! Jesus also won eternal life for you. This earthly existence is not the end. There’s an eternity with Jesus waiting for all of us! Waiting for you!
At St. Paul’s, we hear this simple, yet beautiful, message regularly. We study it at our Bible studies, we hear it and sing about it in our worship services, and we share it with the people living in our area.
Why? Well, what greater comfort and joy is there than to know that our sins have been forgiven and that we have a home with Jesus waiting for us? And, what greater privilege than to share that message? Yes, to share that message with you! It is this message, and this message alone, that saves. And, that’s why we exist. To share that message with you.
We love you! We want to talk about Jesus with you! We want to spend eternity with you! So, please accept our invitation to join us as we worship our Savior, Jesus. No fancy clothes are required. No money will be demanded from you. No one will glare at you if your kids make noise. Nope. Come as you are and enjoy hearing the good news that Jesus died for you!
